LAST year's Sunshine Coast Daily Sunshine Coast Cup winner, Barlinnie, could have attempted to defend his crown tonight if not for the Queensland floods crisis.

The Trevor Bailey-trained gelding took out the $100,000 listed race last year, by three-quarters of a length from Voice Commander, as a $14 outsider.

Bailey said the recent poor weather meant the seven-year-old had missed a stack of preparation and track work after having a lengthy spell.
