Helpers Identify Farmers in Need

FLOOD victims in rural areas are being encouraged to step forward and receive the help they deserve.

At yesterday's Flood Recovery meeting in Warwick Town Hall, Centrelink staff members said they were keen to reach out to producers who may not realise they are eligible for help.

Centrelink staff will be visiting this week's pig and calf sale to meet the rural community.

They stressed, even though people may not have dealings with Centrelink, they could still be eligible for funding.

Volunteers will also contact those C[pounds sterling]in the knowC[yen] in outlying areas, such as rural firies, shops and some trucking companies to try to compile a list of those who may need help.

Groups of Landcare volunteers came from all over Australia last week to help landowners in and around the Stanthorpe area, providing invaluable assistance with fencing and cleaning up properties.

It is hoped a group will also come and help farmers in the Warwick area. …
