Silly Decision by Saints Players, Says Demetriou

AFL: AFL chief executive Andrew Demetriou says the latest scandal to engulf St Kilda is not a true reflection of the club's standards.

Four of the Saints' young players Co Zac Dawson, Rhys Stanley, Jack Steven and Paul Cahill Co are currently under club suspension after consuming alcohol and prescribed medication while in New Zealand on a recent training camp.

Demetriou said it was disappointing, but he did not believe it was part of a widespread culture among AFL players of misusing medication or a system of a poor culture at St Kilda.

He said the majority of AFL players were great ambassadors for the sport and their clubs but occasionally the misbehaviour of a few cast their clubs in a poor light.
