FOR road users between Pomona and Kin Kin, it was dress rehearsal for their highway to hell if the Shepperson's Lane quarry becomes fully operational Kin Kin resident Anita Poteri claims.

With the closure last month of the Bruce Highway because of flooding, large trucks were diverted along the Pomona Kin Kin road to take supplies to Gympie.

Locals were advised up to 60 trucks with police escorts would be coming their way.

After two days of use, the narrow country road had copped such a hammering it had fallen apart, Ms Poteri said.

aThey are still out here trying to fix up the mess,a she said.

Ms Poteri said she emailed the Main Roads Department at the time, informing its transport experts that the road had been so badly damaged in such a short time it needed to be closed temporarily for repairs.

While the crew worked, Ms Poteri said a sign was placed on the road banning trucks of more than 15 tonnes.
