Motorcyclists, Drivers See Damage during Charity Run

THERE was a serious side to the sight of more than 50 high-powered motorcycles and muscle cars roaring their way through the Lockyer Valley and up the Toowoomba range at the weekend.

The inaugural Lockyer Valley Charity Run aimed to show first-hand the devastation caused by the floods, while also raising $1500 for the recovery process.

Organiser Ian Forsyth said he hoped the event would be held again in 2012 as it would take years for the area to be rebuilt.

C[pounds sterling]I live out here myself in Brightview, so I can see the damage that has been done,C[yen] Mr Forsyth said.

C[pounds sterling]Up until recently there were a lot of fundraisers for Ipswich, Brisbane and Toowoomba, but not much for the Lockyer Valley, so I thought I would see what I could do.C[yen]

In just two weeks, Mr Forsyth managed to attract 54 motorcycle and car enthusiasts, with publicans in Plainland, Murphy's Creek, Gatton and Mulgowie donating part of their takings to the appeal. …
