CHANGE .. what happened to the sleepy seaside villages we grew up with? We now have a smart urban society with the services to go with it. From what was once a limited selection of state schooling within easy reach of the family home we're now fortunate to have a choice of some of the best education facilities available in Queensland, from state through to private schooling.

Nowadays these institutions can provide an education for the child's needs. Often it is a question of which school suits your child Co are they sporting, academic or looking for something to assist them to work within a trade. Furthermore, no longer does the family send all of their tribe to the one school. How many children do we know travelling an hour by bus each way to get them to what best suits their educational needs?

Hospitals as well as medical centres have sprung up out of necessity on the Sunshine Coast. Quality 24/7 care is available throughout the area as well as another hospital currently in the pipeline which will lift our infrastructure even further.

Do you remember the old Butt's shopping centre at Maroochydore? The store which Cliff Butt built was so modern and exciting when it was opened. His wife also was an entrepreneur; she had a huge beaut dress shop which was very popular as well.

Back in those days newspapers were put together from timber blocks with lead tops, a block for whatever the product may be Co cornflakes or toothpaste. It all came together like a jigsaw puzzle.

How newspapers and media have moved with the times. Not only how it comes together but a recognition of the reader's needs for up to date well presented information.

With newspapers we are proud to be a part of that change C* reflecting the ideas, discussions, the hopes of the community.
