NIMBIN was sent into a spin yesterday after an arrest prompted a protest at the town's police station.

About 30 people gathered in front of the Nimbin Police Station on Cullen Street demanding answers after a man was arrested, a spokesperson said.

Police confirmed two men were arrested in Nimbin yesterday for offensive behaviour, one for exposing himself in public.

aA second person began to swear at police and had to be removed as he was inciting people around the area in that location,a Richmond Local Area Command duty officer Inspector Matt Kehoe said.

aApparently there were people who sat outside the police station for a short time before they moved away.a

Insp Kehoe said the police presence in the town was not part of any special operation.

He said police officers with the Richmond Target Action Group were in Nimbin responding to a number of complaints.

However, locals stated the first man arrested was actually having a mental health episode. …
