HE'S taken some big hits in his career, but a bouncing baby girl has put Magpies centre Hughie Stanley in a spin.

Stanley's partner, Cobie, gave birth to Sienna six weeks ago and you can tell from the former Sydney Roosters Toyota Cup fullback's beaming face he's one proud dad.

A member of the Lower Clarence Magpies 2009 premiership-winning side, Stanley has returned to the Magpies' nest thanks partly to the birth of his daughter Sienna.

aWe enjoyed living in Sydney but we decided to return to Maclean because of support from Cobie's family, and also Dallas (Waters) asked if I was interested in playing,a Stanley says.

aAnother reason is my brother George (Jarrett) is back and is also going to play for the Magpies.a

When asked about the birth of his daughter, Stanley's face suddenly lights up with pride.

aBeing there to see the birth of Sienna was just amazing,a he says.

aIt was a bit scary but I tried to not freak out and remain calm.

aIt's hard to describe the emotion. It's definitely better than playing football or winning a grand final.a

A noted try-scorer, Stanley will add some much needed punch to the Magpies backline and knowledge after spending the last season with the Roosters.

And according to his partner Cobie sitting down watching league on the television has taken on a new dimension.

aWe like to sit down and watch league on Friday nights, but after being in Sydney, Hughie can't just sit down and watch a game, he has to analyse it,a Cobie explains.

Stanley adds: aThe game in Sydney is a lot quicker and more physical but the big difference is they're a lot smarter.

aYou get taught things you couldn't learn in the bush. There's times when I watch footy on Friday night at home and I can see this guy will come from this side and he'll do this. …
