Byline: INTERVIEWS BY HANNAH NATHANSON AND LUCY HUNTER JOHNSTON

Two minutes with Helen Mirren

What's the key to being so sensational in your sixties?

Lots of help.

Do women get sexier with age?

Not necessarily, no. I think there is nothing quite so wonderful as youth.

What have you done with Russell Brand's pants?

[After filming Arthur together, Brand gave her a pair of his smalls.]

I'm going to have them framed and hang them in my office.

Are they clean?

Well, he said they were used, but I don't believe him.

Do you own any gnomes?

No, we don't. But now I think it's essential.

Are Elton and David keen collectors?

They have quite a few at their house in the South of France. There's one my son loves because it's bending over showing its bottom.

Two minutes with Elton John and David Furnish

How did you get Michael Caine on board?

EJ: I rang him up and said, 'Michael, I have a very unusual request: would you like to play a gnome in a film?' He said, 'Sure send me the script.' He was on board straight away.

What's your favourite gnome joke?

EJ: I'm the world's most famous gnomosexual.

Are you thinking of making more children's films now that you're parents?

EJ: I hope so. I loved making The Lion King because every few years a new audience comes along and enjoys it.

DF: We're very proud of this and we can't wait till Zachary is old enough to see it.
