ClimateSmart Program Offers Tips on Saving

CLIMATE Change and Sustainability Minister Kate Jones heard about the advantages of the ClimateSmart Business Cluster Program during a recent visit to Airlie Beach.

Ms Jones visited Blue Horizon Resort Apartments, which has saved a lot of money by taking part in the program.

Blue Horizon Resort Apartments general manager Alicia Wood said the business had saved $16,000 on its electricity bills during the past 18 months, mainly by changing the behaviour of employees and through a common sense approach to energy.

The resort has been participating in the ClimateSmart program for eight months.

Mackay-Whitsunday cluster leader Jane Turner said Ms Jones, who was in the region for the Queensland Government's Community Cabinet, expressed interest in touring one of the businesses participating in the ClimateSmart program.
