Briefs; FHSAA Gives out Fines, Suspensions for Brawl

The Florida High School Athletic Association handed down its response Tuesday to last week's brawl following the Live Oak Suwannee-Ocala Trinity Catholic boys soccer regional quarterfinal.

Both schools were fined and reprimanded, and both soccer programs were placed on administrative and restrictive probation. Trinity Catholic was fined $2,250 and Suwannee was fined $1,700 for unsportsmanlike conduct citations and fans entering the field after the game.

The FHSAA also suspended five Suwannee players and seven Trinity Catholic players for periods ranging from two games to 12 months. Trinity Catholic athletic director Tommy Bond indicated the school intended to suspend an additional three players for Tuesday's Region 2-3A semifinal victory at Crystal River.
