Dogs Have Their Day; Pampering for Pooches Affected in City Floods

IPSWICH pooches can enjoy a well-deserved day of pampering this weekend.

The Pet Industry Association of Australia (PIAA) will hold a pet recovery day on Sunday to help dogs and their owners in flood-affected areas of Ipswich stay healthy as they recover.

PIAA CEO Roger Perkins said recovery from the floods was an ongoing challenge for people and their pets, with pets also feeling stress in the aftermath of the disaster.

C[pounds sterling]The health and welfare of dogs is a priority for the PIAA. Our members have rallied to help those in need and alleviate some of the stress for families in the aftermath of the floods,C[yen] Mr Perkins said.

As part of the day there will be free dog washes and vet checks, as well as pet games and activities.

To refresh their dog, pet owners are asked to show their license at the registration desk, with people living in flood-affected postcodes recognised by Ipswich City Council as eligible. …
