Support Is the Key to Success

Article excerpt

GROWTH and sustainability are top of the agenda for businesses here in the North East - and taking advantage of the opportunities on offer is often the key to success. But finding the right opportunities is sometimes challenging.

Sourcing and accessing finance - which can be pivotal to enable firms to invest, grow and diversify - is an area which North East businesses need to know about, and really makes an impact on the business community and the economy of the region.

It can be frustrating not knowing where to start. However, despite some changes to the business support landscape, there is still a range of help available to help North East firms prosper and grow.

Business Link is dedicated to providing easy access to impartial and practical help, advice and information to the region's businesses and entrepreneurs. Over the past three years, Business Link has worked with over 93,000 North East businesses - supporting 12,500 new businesses and helping to create over 14,900 jobs.

And the service continues to provide support to businesses at all stages of development and growth.

Business Link is also the primary access point to the North East England Investment Centre (NEEIC). The NEEIC was set up to help businesses sustain themselves by looking at more longterm projects that help them develop and grow, ultimately having a positive impact on the region's economy.

The service offers a range of investment support to those who have just started or are about to start up a new business, as well as established businesses looking to drive their business forward. Projects eligible for assistance are those deemed to have a positive effect on the economy by creating new jobs and businesses, developing skills or protecting jobs. …
