THE operations at Nambour General Hospital have again been called into question after a Sunshine Coast woman recently endured a three-day wait for minor surgery.

The woman, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said it was ludicrous that she occupied a bed and other hospital resources for so long when the facility had such a chronic bed shortage.

When she finally had the operation, it was over in an hour and she was discharged several hours later.

The woman said there was another patient in her ward who was also forced to wait about three days for minor surgery.

She was told her surgery had been delayed because there were more urgent cases.

aIf the operation could have been done (earlier) my bed could have been free,a she said.

aThat's just two cases that I know of (herself and the other patient). We occupied beds all those days when we didn't need to.

aThey had these resources being used on me and I wasn't that ill and it was quite unnecessary. …
