AN Australian woman awaiting rescue from a collapsed office building in Christchurch has spoken of being trapped in the dark and unable to move.

The middle-aged woman, identified as Anne Voss, said she was sitting at her desk in the now extensively damaged Pyne Gould Corporation Building when the magnitude 6.3 earthquake hit the New Zealand city.

Speaking via her mobile phone to the Seven Network, Mrs Voss said she was now stuck in C[pounds sterling]a building I thought would never collapseC[yen], though C[pounds sterling]today was the big oneC[yen].

C[pounds sterling]I was sitting at my desk, and I went under my desk and the ceiling collapsed on top of the desk,C[yen] Mrs Voss said.

C[pounds sterling]So I'm sort of squashed underneath. I haven't been able to move really.C[yen]
