MADAGASCAR 8PM, BBC2 David Attenborough visits the western side of the world's largest island, an arid landscape of bulbous baobab trees and fiercely prickly shrubs, inhabited by an eccentric collection of fauna, including some beautiful, lace-like insects with a belligerent streak. "This curious spat has never been observed before," murmurs Attenborough, peering at something resembling a riot in a hankie drawer. Then it's off in pursuit of the fossa, a fearsome nocturnal creature with an eerie shriek.
