THE rough seas over the last few days have helped to bring a few fish inshore.

The best of the fishing seems to be north of the Tyne, with Newbiggin Bay giving codling between 3lb and 5lb, mainly on rag and lug.

The Private Beach has produced a few fish, best 8lb and there was a good cCod of 14lb 8oz taken from Beadnell.

Darren Smith fished the same venue and, using mussel and lug, took two cod of 4lb 2oz and 7lb.

When it has been possible to fish Roker Pier there have been some reasonable catches of codling between 2lb and 4lb.

The pier has also produced a few coalfish and decent whiting.

On Teesside, there have been mainly small codling between 1lb and 2lb.

There have also been whiting, with best baits worm and fish strip.
