A MARYBOROUGH man broke into 12 houses and stole more than $17,000 worth of valuables to help feed his heroin addiction, the Maryborough District Court has heard.

Robert John Norris, 24, went on two major crime sprees across Brisbane from March to April last year a just six weeks after being released from prison.

Prosecutor J Villanueva said during the first spree a from March 15 to 19 a Norris broke into three houses and attempted to break into a fourth. He took any valuables he could get his hands on, including jewellery and money.

The court heard that on April 1, Norris was tracked down by police and questioned in relation the break-ins. He was released on bail after making full admissions ... but it didn't take him long to start offending again.

Ms Villanueva said that from April 19 to 28 Norris broke into a further nine houses, stealing jewellery, money, mobile phones and a laptop. On two occasions he also helped himself to the homeowner's car and used it to commit further crimes. …
