Ducklo Family Watch as Home Burns to Ground

A DUCKLO family of five narrowly escaped a potentially deadly blaze then had to watch as their family home burnt to the ground early yesterday morning.

Keith and Charmaine Nilon awoke to the cries of their eldest son Ben, 12, warning them of the fire as he banged on their bedroom door about 11.30pm on Thursday.

They immediately evacuated their home, south west of Dalby, with their other children Michael, 10, and McKaylee, 8.

C[pounds sterling]He was banging on the door saying Cythe house is on fire',C[yen] Mr Nilon said.

The fire was only coming from the rumpus room at the side of the house initially, but spread very quickly.

It also engulfed a nearby outside laundry.

C[pounds sterling]I grabbed the hose, but there was no power to pump water.C[yen]

C[pounds sterling]It had been tripped.C[yen]

Mr Nilon said there was no time to grab any personal possessions.
