Have a Good Night's Sleep after Helping Clean Up Mackay Region

MORE than seven tonnes of waste is expected to fill skip bins from Town Beach to the Gooseponds and all the way to Campwin Beach.

No matter where you live in the Mackay region, you can make a difference by participating in Sunday's Clean Up Australia Day.

The Mackay Regional Council have 13 registered sites throughout the region to give volunteers a chance to clean up their area from 8am to 10am on Sunday.

Mayor Col Meng said residents could choose to participate in nearby sites.

C[pounds sterling]We have a number of council registered sites, however if you can't make it to one of these, have a look around your backyard or neighbourhood and pick up any rubbish that may be lying around,C[yen] Cr Meng said.

C[pounds sterling]Every piece of rubbish that ends up in our parks, waterways, bushland and on our streets or beaches is a potential killer of local wildlife.C[yen]

Cr Meng said this year's theme was CySleep well at night knowing you helped out on Clean Up Australia Day'. …
