Apprentices Hope to Spark Success

NORTH Tyneside training provider Trade Training Associates (TTA) has taken on two new adult apprentices who are looking to gain recognised qualifications so they can expand their business.

Dondo Sakutombo, 33, and William Hopkins, 26, both from Jesmond, Newcastle, are directors of electrical engineering business Simba which they launched two years ago.

The apprentices have previous electrical experience as lighting engineers and installers but they did not have all the professional qualifications needed to take their business to the next level.

The pair have now enrolled at TTA in order to gain the 2330 Electrical Installation, Level 2 and 3, and NVQ 3 qualifications. While studying for the NVQ 3 they are putting their new skills into practice with the Aspire project.

Once the directors are fully qualified with TTA, they aim to run two installation teams; consisting of one northern office, which is in Newcastle, and another southern office, which will be based in London. …
