IT'S just as well Joanne Reid likes being a cop a she's just become Grafton's newest inspector a equivalent in rank to Grafton's other police inspector, Murray Gillett.

Ma'am Reid, as her subordinates will refer to her, has brought her young family with her from her previous post a establishing a uniform presence at Sydney Airport with the Australian Federal Police.

Prior to this three-year post, Insp Reid worked mainly in general duty positions with the Redfern and Newtown commands of inner-Sydney.

Boasting 16 years' police service, Insp Reid said she was looking forward to the challenges of her new position and would be overseeing human resources issues for the entire Coffs/Clarence command, which has about 180 officers.

Insp Gillett and Insp Reid share the responsibility for the Grafton sector of the Coffs Clarence LAC.

Insp Reid said the issue of long-term sick leave was definitely under her jurisdiction and she hoped to make some inroads in this known problem area. …
