Movie-Goers Lured to 3D Experience; Wave of Blockbusters to Hit Toowoomba Screens

THERE is nothing like the smell of fresh popcorn, a giant screen with digital sound and almost always some idiot who has not turned off their mobile a[pounds sterling] yes, going to the movies is an institution and last year it was Australia's most popular pastime.

Cinema has entered a new golden age with the introduction of 3D movies which has movie-goers flocking back to the movies in droves.

Birch Carroll and Coyle Toowoomba Strand general manager Ian Mills said the 3D phenomena over the past two years had made going to the movies more popular than ever.

aEver since Avatar, we have seen some great films come out in 3D and they have certainly bought people back to the movies.

a3D films have created a new attraction for people. They are something different, a different movie experience than what was experienced in the past,a Mr Mills said.

Last year, Toowoomba residents flocked to the movies in record numbers making it the largest regional centre for people eager to revisit the cinema experience. …
