Beach Bodies on Show PHANTOM CALL; Rangers Turn Heads at North Kirra

Article excerpt

IPSWICH Rangers held a surf lifesaving training session last weekend and, in the words of coach Mike McLean, C[pounds sterling]as surf lifesavers, they make pretty good rugby playersC[yen].

C[pounds sterling]Crossy (assistant coach Tony Cross) had done it before at Wests and it is a lot of fun,C[yen] McLean said.

C[pounds sterling]It is a lot of different training for them with beach sprints, flag races, run-swim-run and a wading race.C[yen]

The session was held at North Kirra under the supervision of the North Kirra surf lifesavers who ensured none of the Rangers drowned.

Even with State of Origin great Bob Lindner coaching the side, word is O'Doherty controlled proceedings on the field as well.

C[pounds sterling]Bob is pretty casual, he's a nice fella,C[yen] a source close to the team said.

C[pounds sterling]I think Pattie was running the show more so than Bob was.C[yen]

Narrow focus

WES Conlon has obviously been focusing on his rugby league, as his performances in trials for Souths Logan will attest. …
