Man Stabbed 27 Times, Escapes

A MAN made a miracle escape after being stabbed 27 times and locked in the boot of a car near Uki on Saturday night.

The 62-year-old was travelling in a silver Mazda 626 sedan on Kyogle Rd between Murwillumbah and Uki when he became involved in an altercation with the 41-year-old

driver about 11.30pm

DST.

The younger man stopped the vehicle and allegedly punched his passenger in the face before stabbing him 27 times with a knife in the upper body.

The victim attempted to flee but was chased down and forced into the boot of the vehicle.

The 62-year-old was able to manipulate the lock on the boot and escape while the vehicle was in motion. He then made his way to an address on the outskirts of Uki where he raised the alarm.

Tweed Police Inspector Darren Steel said the incident was shrouded in mystery.
