Export Trade Aid for Local Firms; Regional Adviser to Help Companies Break into International Markets

THE Wide Bay Burnett region has a new TradeStart export adviser and she is determined to open up overseas markets for local businesses.

Jessica Lord, who has been in the job for about three weeks, said she would be offering Bundaberg businesses access to the exports program she planned to run in the city.

Ms Lord said there was a strong training element to the services she could provide.

C[pounds sterling]If someone comes to me, I will provide the information and the training programs we offer to get them into the export market,C[yen] she said.

Ms Lord said as an example, someone might go to TradeStart and say they were interested in exporting their product to the Philippines.

C[pounds sterling]They might ask for an introduction to someone who might be interested in their product,C[yen] she said.

C[pounds sterling]We could maybe take them on a trade mission and introduce them to potential customers.C[yen]

She said TradeStart could also introduce clients to other services.

Ms Lord said there were more than 50 registered exporting companies in Bundaberg and the surrounding region. …
