Revamped Hospital to Finish Two Years Early

THE $128.7 million expansion of the Ipswich Hospital will be delivered two years ahead of schedule, Health Minister Geoff Wilson announced yesterday.

Work on the project, which will see 90 new beds added to the hospital and the Emergency Department significantly expanded, is due to start by the end of the year.

Mr Wilson said the finish date was brought forward after the completion of detailed planning and redesign work.

C[pounds sterling]We understand very well that Ipswich is a big growing area of Queensland, and we want to make sure the planning anticipates that growth and provides infrastructure in the medium term,C[yen] Mr Wilson said.

Member for Ipswich Rachel Nolan, who joined Mr Wilson at the announcement at the hospital yesterday, said it was good news for the people of Ipswich.
