OFFICIAL OPENING

EVERYONE is invited to join Liz Cunningham, Member for Gladstone, at the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery and Museum for the official launch of Queensland Art Gallery's touring exhibition Contemporary Miniatures, from 6pm tomorrow.

The event will begin with a floor talk led by exhibition curator Mellissa Kavenagh, and will include an opportunity to meet the artist as we welcome Contemporary Miniatures artist Khadim Ali to the Gladstone region.

This will be Mr Ali's third presentation during his visit as he will lead two workshops at the gallery/museum earlier in the day.

Contemporary Miniatures is a collection-based exhibition drawn from the Queensland Art Gallery's fine holdings of miniature paintings from south Asia.

These works dating from the past decade explore the formal elements of miniature painting, from the rigorous discipline and meticulous application required to its central narrative function.

For further information or to RSVP for the official launch please phone 49766766 or email gragm@gladstonerc.qld.gov.au

Contemporary Miniatures is a Queensland Art Gallery touring exhibition, supported by the Visual Arts and Crafts Strategy, an initiative of the Australian, state and territory governments, administered by Arts Queensland.
