JOHN Norris of Murwillumbah loves travelling and has been to many parts of the world.

Together with wife Jan he started the Friendship Force of the Tweed Valley and was president for nine years before starting the Tweed Valley Travellers.

Mr Norris was born in Tasmania and educated in Melbourne.

He transferred to Wagga Wagga with an insurance company, married and began to raise a family.

Thirty-seven years ago he took over the licence of the Victory Hotel at Mooball.

He then bought a hotel-motel at Bungendore in 1976, later moving north to buy a corner store-newsagency at Loganholme.

However the family chose the Tweed as a permanent home and settled in Murwillumbah in 1980.

Mr Norris entered a partnership with Tweed Insurance Brokers, now Westlawn.

He became involved in the local community with 30 years service with Murwillumbah Central Rotary Club where he was president twice, secretary five times and has held office in most of the other positions in Rotary. …
