WHILE the big boys battle it out in the Solo Cup today, the future stars of North Coast Football will be taking to the field at Woolgoolga tomorrow in the fourth round of this year's Northern NSW State Youth league.

NCF zone teams face the strong Central Coast tomorrow.

Even though the southerners are not actually part of the Northern NSW football family, it has recently played in its premier youth competition because of its strength and the opportunities it gives young players to perform.

Last week NCF won all four matches against Mid North Coast (north) but tomorrow brings a new challenge.

15 years boys

It has been an unusual couple of weeks for the 15s.

First a goal-less performance against Macquarie followed by an 11-goal haul against Mid North Coast.

Traditionally, Central Coast has proved tough opposition but it was trounced in the first round by Newcastle, so the southerners are coming from behind already.

The issue for the NCF 15s is not so much what its opposition does but making sure it finishes off the many chances that it has been creating.

14 years boys

With a win and a draw from the first three games the 14s are already enjoying success this season.

Last year, many close games went the other way but the signs are there that the opposite is starting to happen in 2011.

The 14s are controlling possession for long periods and creating many chances each game.

Now, it's just a matter of playing with confidence and putting on the pitch what has been learnt on the training paddock.

The NCF 14s have some players who are starting to get noticed and with the nationals looming later in the year, there is plenty of motivation to play well.

13 years boys

It was hard not to get caught up in the excitement of the NCF 13s winning its first game on Sunday.

The squad has put in so much effort only to end up previously on the wrong side of the scoresheet. …
