I WONDER if you can help us trace any living relatives of the late Joan Henderson, daughter of the late Mr and Mrs T. Henderson of Sydney Grove Wallsend, Newcastle.

Joan Henderson married on July 10, 1943, at the St Augustine Church, Newcastle, to a P/O Archibald Norman Durham, RAAF bomber command 514 Sqn.

I believe it may have been your paper who photographed the wedding, see picture below.

A child was born in the name of Donald Durham, however, both left for Australia on March 12, 1946, on board the Highland Princess from Port of London. Donald was four months old at the time of departure , PO Durham had already returned to the Brisbane area of Australia to finish his RAAF service.

The main reason for the search is that we are writing a book on the lives of the Lancaster DS822 crew, based at Waterbeach Cambs, who were shot down over La Celle-les-Bordes on the morning of June 8, 1944, following a mission to marshalling yards near Paris. …
