GAME five-year-old Silver Scholar is poised to graduate from a prince to the King of Clifford Park as he looks to add to Toowoomba racing folklore in this afternoon's XXXX Gold Weetwood Handicap (1200m).

Silver Scholar ($6) is unbeaten in seven races on Clifford Park's Cushion Track and today he has the chance to crown that record by claiming Toowoomba racing's greatest prize.

Joining the gelding in his bid for a dream success in the $150,000 Listed sprint are his hobby trainer Christine McAppion, part-owner Peter O'Sullivan and Toowoomba jockey Kenji Yoshida.

Standing in their way are 12 opponents including last year's Weetwood winner Poor Judge ($10), in-form Queensland sprinter Lucky Leak ($4.40) and well-credentialed Canberra visitor Zaratone ($4.20 fav).

Silver Scholar goes into his toughest test to date on the back of an unorthodox preparation marred by a fall at his latest race start at Eagle Farm on January 26. …
