POTHOLES filled with water, flooded roads, reduced speed limits and delays during peak hour were enough to send Mackay motorists around the bend yesterday.

Waking once again to rain was depressing enough, but those who dragged themselves out of bed and headed to work encountered a miserable drive as rising floodwater threw the city's traffic into chaos.

Traffic started to slow about 7am and it wasn't long before it came to a near stand-still, with cars crawling along Mackay-Bucasia Rd as parts of the surrounding road network, including the Fursden Crk bridge, went under water. …
