GOLF: Can Adam Scott become the first golfer to win a major championship wielding a broomstick putter?

That is the first of many intriguing questions hovering over the six-man Australian contingent in next week's Masters at Augusta National.

No one has seriously threatened to claim Australia's historic first green jacket since Greg Norman suffered what turned out to be his final near-miss 12 long years ago.

However, several of the six are carrying decent form into the year's first and perhaps most coveted major championship.

The first round looms as more important to Scott than other players.

If he makes those short putts from 1-2 metres that have driven him crazy over the years, it could be an exciting week.
