Workshop Will Explain Census Data Collection
INTERESTED in earning $18 an hour to collect data for this year's census?
For your chance to be recruited as a paid collector, attendance at a free
workshop this Friday is a must.
The Australian Bureau of Statistics and Mackay Regional Council are relying on the paid collectors to help ensure the region is accurately counted for the 2011 Census.
Although the ABS conducts the Census, council relies on correct population data to access funding and implement economic development strategies.
Mackay Mayor Col Meng said council was partnering with the ABS to present a second workshop to outline what's involved in the Census.

To assist in the preparation and operation of the Census, the ABS is recruiting an army of over 29,000 collectors nationally, including about 200 in the Mackay-Whitsunday region.
