SAY hello to Grafton's marathon man.

aI'm not Andi Aman, I'm Andi a REAL MAN,a the 52-year-old laughs.

aThat's my running joke.a

But there were no running jokes late last month. No room. Or time.

Just sweat and exhaustion.

And 30-40km/h of hot air slapping you in the face at the Red Rock to Coffs Harbour Jetty

Marathon.

aI thought about four-and-a-half hours would be a fair run. The head-wind was a bastard,a says Aman, who clocked in at 4hr 3min 56sec.

aI was getting tired but I thought, a[approximately]Bugger it, I'll hang in there'.

aI ran with some other guys the rest of the way.

aI thought, a[approximately]Well I've hung in there so far, I'll see how I go'.a

Aman completed the 45km beach run in a time good enough for second place.

The fact he beat many rivals 15-20 years his junior made the finish all the more special.
