Wilson Takes the Final; No Practice but Andy Shows He Has the Form

ANDY Wilson went into this year's Warwick East Bowls Club championships believing he had one chance in 250 to win the A-grade title.

A couple of years ago he would have given himself a better chance but this year he had only been back playing serious bowls for two months after an accident.

He doesn't practise and plays once a week.

But the best practice in championship bowls is to keep winning and Wilson beat Doug Laverick and Ed Diery to qualify for the semi finals.

In the semi finals, Wilson beat Peter Dippelsman and Peter Gynther beat Norm Madsen.

Wilson won the final 25-19.

In 2005, Wilson won B grade which automatically put him into A-grade competition.

In the veteran's final, Norm Madsen won by one shot from Wilson who was in his first veterans competition after turning 70 in September.

Madsen has already won 19 A-grade singles titles in the past 30 years and this year won his fourth veterans' title in eight years. …
