ONE band of spectators will be keeping a close eye on what happens on the field this weekend, rather than the scoreboard, in Gladstone District Rugby League matches.

With a wealth of talent to pick from, Gladstone Raiders selectors will be pencilling in possible starters for a representative side that is bound to be competitive, spirited and keen to win.

Aaron Farrar will again coach the Gladstone team in the 47 Battalion carnival held in May, and is looking forward to having another crack at the competition.

C[pounds sterling]I found it really rewarding and love to keep my hand in coaching,C[yen] said Farrar, who, along with a panel of selectors, will be scouring local grounds this weekend for players to fill a 20-man squad.

C[pounds sterling]We'll get a good feel for who's playing well and who's not, and select a team as a team and not individuals,C[yen] Farrar said.

Having coached Wallabys at local level, Farrar said coaching a representative side calls for a slightly different approach. …
