FOR A change, I have had some chance to rest after the organised chaos that is the Classic.

Some divers have ventured out and had some great catches. Mackerel, especially Spanish, make up the bulk of the catch and I have only heard of a few spotties being taken by

divers.

Some good jewfish are still about and if you are prepared to get right up into the gutters, there are some massive fish in very shallow water. Wahoo are also still about and they really like a little current, no current often means no fish.

Snapper are only rarely reported by spearos. Interestingly, a reef that appears to a fisho to be full of snapper, often appears completely devoid of life to a spearo.

This is a reflection of the timid and suspicious nature of snapper. Some divers will overcome this by steady berleying but that means having to contend with the taxmen (sharks) too.
