STOP kicking us and make up your mind.

That is the demand from the peak developers group, the Urban Development Institute of Australia.

The Sunshine Coast branch of the group has a new president in Frazer Dean following the resignation of former leader Mark Van Wyk.

Mr Dean wasted no time in defending the battle that developers were constantly faced with on the Sunshine Coast.

Following an exclusive report in the Daily yesterday that many of our urban areas could be permanently inundated within a century, Mr Dean said if changes must be made, it cannot be by them.

aThe first thing, contrary to public opinion, we don't set the parameters on where we can build,a he said.

aWe are regulated to where we can and can't build.

aThis inundation might take up much of the urban footprint, but we're told to build there.

aIf they want us to build in the hinterland, that is not our choice.a

Mr Dean said it was obvious that if the Coast wanted to plan for sea level rises, that mandate would not be from developers. …
