I Thought Becky Would Come Home to Us, Says Tearful Mother

THE family of a murder victim whose body was found after police started investigating the disappearance of Sian O'Callaghan told today how they have been devastated by her death.

The remains of Becky Godden-Edwards were discovered in a field in Eastleach, Gloucestershire, last Monday, following the arrest of minicab driver Christopher Halliwell, 47, in connection with the murder of Miss O'Callaghan.

Detectives had to tell Ms Godden-Edwards's family that her body had been found eight years after they last saw her. Her mother Karen Edwards said: "My daughter has been murdered, and to be given the news on what would have been her 29th birthday, we can't believe it. After everything she has been through in her troubled life."

Comforted by her husband Charlie Edwards, Becky's stepfather, Mrs Edwards said her daughter had fallen in with the wrong crowd and started taking drugs: "Becky was a very beautiful, intelligent girl. Becky gave me so much love and joy as a child. …
