Security Officer Had to Guard Damaged Door; Man Is Now Left to Pay the Repair Bill

MARK Collins has to pay

nearly $800 to get a bank door repaired after he punched it

in.

He also has to pay another $200 because a security officer had to guard the bank until the glass panel of the door was replaced.

Mark Shannon Collins, a 31-year-old driller's assistant, who now lives on the Sunshine Coast, pleaded guilty in the Mackay Magistrate's Court yesterday to wilfully damaging a glass panel door at the Bendigo Bank branch in the City Heart on March 25.

Police were called at 2.20am by a security officer who said he saw Collins leave a nightclub and walk towards the Bendigo Bank office and punch the door.

He left a fist-sized hole in the glass panel.

Collins then tried to use the ATM, leaving it covered in blood.

He went and tried to get into another nightclub but was stopped and police were called and the incident was reported to them.

When police located Collins that morning, he had blood over his arms and clothes. …
