Treating Your Family Safely; FIRST AID: Course Will Teach Parents Basics to Keep Kids Safe

TWEED parents now have the chance to learn first aid and keep their kids safe.

The Red Cross FamilySafe First Aid Program will run at the Pottsville Beach Neighbourhood Centre on Wednesday, May 11.

The program is already run in Sydney, but this will be its first time in the Tweed region.

Red Cross FamilySafe First Aid program facilita- tor Michelle Walker said it may become a regular fixture in Tweed.

aWe see this as the program's introduction to the community. If it is successful it will be run regularly,a Ms Walker said.

aHow the program came about is the Red Cross realised there was a gap in people's first-aid knowledge.

aThis was because most first-aid programs are run in the workplace and so some parents were not getting the information they needed.a

Ms Walker said information gained at the program would be helpful for accidents that happen around the house.

aThe program is aimed at beginners and tailored to accidents that may happen around the house with children,a Ms Walker said. …
