Rooney Finally Comes Clean over His FA Swearing Ban

WAYNE ROONEY today admitted that he was wrong to have sworn into a television camera after scoring a hat-trick against West Ham -- 11 days after the incident.

The Manchester United striker apologised after the 4-2 win at Upton Park but then insisted that he had done nothing wrong when banned for two matches by the Football Association last week.

Now, in the wake of last night's Champions League win over Chelsea, Rooney has accepted that what he did was wrong.

He said: "I didn't realise what I'd done. It was just emotions, it was a release if you like of scoring the three goals to get us back in the game. As soon as I realised after the game I apologised as soon as I could. Of course it was wrong of me to do but I accept my punishment and you just have to move on."

Rooney will miss Saturday's FA Cup semi-final with rivals Manchester City as he serves the second match of his ban. …
