MOTORISTST can often become impatient and frustrated when travelling behind a slower vehicle. Overtaking can be fatal if not done safely.

Overtaking safely tips:

overtake on the right side of a vehicle;

always check ahead for approaching traffic;

check behind for other vehicles, use all mirrors and do a blind spot check for the lane you are entering;

always use your indicator and give sufficient warning to other motorists;

it's illegal to exceed the speed limit, even when overtaking

ensure the line markings permit you to overtake. Never cross double solid centre lines;

move back into the lane you were travelling in as soon as it is safe to do so.

Overtaking more than one vehicle at a time increases your risk of a crash, so before you overtake make sure it's safe. If in doubt, wait a it's better to be safe than sorry.
