Pair Are Taking Their Talent Worldwide

NORTH East playwrights Ed Waugh and Trevor Wood are facing a hot summer as their work will be seen in New Zealand, London and the North East.

The duo, whose play Alf Ramsey Knew My Grandfather took its Newcastle Theatre Royal bow last May, have a busy three months ahead, starting in a fortnight's time when their international hit Dirty Dusting begins a 40-date tour of New Zealand. This follows a hugely successful national tour of Australia last year. The show, about female pensioners who set up a telephone sex line, also has an English production next month, and takes in Chesterfield, Peterborough and the North East's own Middlesbrough Theatre.

The pair return to London next month with The Revengers, following Maggie's End (in which they killed off Margaret Thatcher) - a 2009 a hit for them in the capital.

The dark comedy, about a former television sex symbol and a loan shark, starts a two-week run at the Barons Court Theatre in West Kensington on Monday, May 9, and runs until Saturday 23. …
