Mandhooma Is Looking All Set to Rock Brighton

MANDHOOMA enjoyed no luck at all at Brighton earlier this month but she can right the record with victory in the New Brasserie Italiano Marina Square Handicap (6.05) back at the seaside venue.

The five-year-old really seems to like the particular challenge this track presents as each of her four career victories have come at this course.

It would well have been five career successes last time too, but for a woeful run of luck when the pace started to hot up over seven furlongs.

She met more than one obstacle in her path when trying to mount her challenge but she finished with great credit to bag second behind St Ignatius, although she never quite looked like catching him.

A 3lb rise for Mandhooma looks a touch harsh on the face of it, but granted a clear run this time, she can shrug off the extra burden.

Opera Dancer signed off with a win late last year and she can pick up where she left off in the Granville Classified Stakes at Bath (2.40).

The three-year-old hails from a fine family, with Grey Shot and Opera Cape amongst her half-siblings, and she certainly has some of the same gutsy traits.

Out of luck in four maiden starts, she then found Wootton Bassett far too good when well down the field in a Doncaster sales event.

A drop in company on the Wolverhampton all-weather yielded a narrow success last October and competing off her lowest rating of 75, she must be worth a shot.

Volcanic Dust earned her winter off after a busy juvenile campaign and she can return suitably refreshed for the Pulteney Fillies' Handicap (4.40).

Winner of one of 10 starts at two, Volcanic Dust has been off the track since finishing a narrow second at Kempton last October.

That run was a touch better than it appears as Volcanic Dust was a bit keen early on and could not secure a favourable position from which to challenge. …
