Danny's Brace Buoys the Table Toppers
STOCKTON SUNDAY LEAGUE DANNY Rutherford scored twice as Thornaby Aerodrome Club extended their lead at the top of Division Two.
Aero won 3-1 away to Thomas Sheraton with Nigel Wilks scoring their other goal, and Martin Wilkinson replying.
Aero's situation was also boosted by main rivals Perrys and Merlin drawing.
Aero have one game left while Perrys have two and, if both win their games, they will finish on 62 points to force a play-off.
Merlin and Perrys drew 3-3. Merlin scorers were Michael Screen (2) and Richard Harrison. The scorers for Perrys were Wayne Simpson, Andy Jones and sub Ian Jordan.
In Division One, where Norton George and Dragon have already secured the title, Billingham Rangers and Dubliners are contesting the runners-up spot, both with 57 points from 24 games.
Rangers beat Sun Inn Athletic 6-0 while Dubliners won 6-1 at Malleable to set up this week''s clash between the two.
Dubliners' scorers were Connor Westwood (3), Chris Wrathmall, Gary Gittins and Jordan Morgan. Danny Lincoln replied for Malleable.
Stockton West End have finished the season strongly and had another good win by 3-0 against Thornaby CC thanks to Andrew Brown, Clark Peacock and Andrew Dinsdale.
Hardwick Social Club maintained their lead iIn the Premier Division following a 7-2 victory at Mandale.
Star man was Scott Hine who scored four times, while Jamie Owens, James Wilson and substitute James Ward also netted. …
