Hosts Prove Thorn in Side for Clydesdales

HOSTS Bundaberg again proved the spoilers at the Central Division 47th Battalion Trophy as the Clydesdales bowed out in the semi-finals following a heavy 50-12 loss yesterday.

Bundaberg proved too strong for Toowoomba in yesterday afternoon's semi-final as the Clydesdales struggled to back up after their hard-fought 16-12 loss to Sunshine Coast in their final pool match yesterday morning.

The carnival hosts had a much easier run into the sudden-death semi-final, brushing past Border League 62-0 yesterday morning, and Clydesdales coach Russell Bailey identified that as a big disadvantage for his side.

Bundaberg beat Toowoomba in last year's final so the scenario is becoming far too familiar for Bailey's liking.
