HAYDEN Warren joined an elite group last Thursday when he was presented with the prestigious Queen's Scout award at Kareeba Scout Group.

C[pounds sterling]It's been over 11 years since the last Queen's Scout award in Gladstone, so it's an exceptional achievement,C[yen] regional advisor for Venturer Scouts Peter Rasmussen said.

Mr Rassmussen saw firsthand the work Hayden put into the award, which is the highest honour in the Scouting movement. It was five years of constant effort, but Hayden said it was all worth it.

C[pounds sterling]I got to do a lot of outdoor activity and personal development stuff,C[yen] he said. C[pounds sterling]And the leadership activities were great too.C[yen]

Hayden had to earn 16 badges in disciplines covering outdoor activity, community work, leadership and personal development. He said it was a tough process, as he had to finish the last few badges while attending his first year of university in Brisbane last year. …
